Volume: 4.5 qts. over stock
Number of Bolts: 20
PML designed this deep pan to help the TorqShift 5R110 transmission better handle the high stresses of towing and hauling. It fits the 5R110 automatic transmission used in the F250, F350, F450, F550, E350, and E450 with these engines:
2003-2007, some 2008 and newer, with 6.0 Power Stroke diesel
2005-2007, some 2008 and newer, with 6.8 V10
2008 and Newer Ford Trucks
In 2008, Ford added a new style of transmission pan and filter. The new style has a larger transmission pan and a filter that is internal, located inside the pan. 2008 and newer vehicles can have either the a "new style" transmission pan with an internal filter or the "old style" pan with an external filter. Please check which you have before ordering.
External Filter Style Pan
Pictured at left is the old style stock pan and external filter. If you have an external spin-on transmission oil filter near the bell housing (as shown), this PML pan, part number 9973, is for you.
The Ford logo is on the side.
Internal Filter Style Pan
Pictured at left here is the new style stock pan. It is larger to accommodate an internal filter. If you have this larger pan with internal filter, PML's new TorqShift transmission pan, part number 11049, is for you.
The Ford logo is in the middle.
Excursion and F250 with 5.4L Owners
Some models of the Excursion and the F250 with the 5.4L gas engine have clearance issues and cannot accommodate a deeper pan. A larger aftermarket pan may or may not work on your vehicle. Using the dimensions above, check your vehicle before ordering. Look for clearance problems especially with frame cross members and the exhaust.
These images show the stock pan and exhaust routing on a 2005 F250 5.4L gas engine truck.
The exhaust is routed too close to the transmission pan to allow for the larger PML pan.

Temperature Sensor Option
PML designed the 5R110 transmission pan to accommodate as many customers as possible. This pan has two possible locations for a temperature sensor, one on the driver's side and one on the passenger's side, opposite the drain hole. The bosses in these locations can accommodate from 1/8 to 1/2 NPT. Machining these bosses is optional and can be ordered from PML if desired.
About Filters
PML designed this pan to work with the stock filter.
The pan has cast-in filter supports inside the pan (see image at left). The fluid level is at the same place with the PML pan as with the stock pan. The pick up for the transmission fluid is at the point with the PML pan as with the stock pan. A filter extension is not needed.
About Gaskets
PML recommends a flexible rubber-cork gasket with this pan. These gaskets work well to seal machined surfaces, such as the gasket flange of the PML pan and the transmission housing.
Reusable thick rubber gaskets are intended for use with stamped steel stock pans. PML recommends against reusable rubber gaskets with our pans for several reasons. They nick easily, resulting in leaks. Their hole guides can cause gaps between the PML pan and the transmission case mating surface. Stamped steel stock pans flex and conform with the reusable rubber gaskets to provide a seal. PML sand cast aluminum pans have thick machined flanges and DO NOT flex.
PML recommends a rubber-cork gasket as show in the image.
These gaskets are thin, flexible, inexpensive and easily available from auto parts stores, sold individually or in a kit with a filter.
